The original rock band Parousia 1975-1992, from Buffalo NY – the first rock band to use the name Parousia. Since then, others have adopted the concept as their own. For legacy sake, we feel the need to clear the air about these “other Parousia’s” to let you know, they are definitely not us!
Up next in the “not us” genre, is Parousia from Rhode Island. In their videos, they are playing in a comfy room used for social events, referred to as “the Upper Room”.
Their music is original blues rock in the 1970’s vein and heavy on the guitar and organ. The vocalist has a nice mid-range voice (kinda’ sounds like Huey Lewis) and also plays harmonica. The guitarist is good and can definitely rock out.

Their songs are all religious in title: “Zacchaeus Was A Little Man”, “Down to the Altar”, “Rescue the Perishing”, “Jonah’s Runnin’”, “Soulshine” and “The Lord is on Our Side”.
This Rhode Island Parousia intersects with the original Buffalo Parousia in that both bands shared early beginnings, performing at church functions.
Looks like Rhode Island Parousia pulls in a crowd like we did back in the day…
