Here are four videos featuring Parousia at the legendary Roxy Theatre, West Hollywood, California, June 4, 1989. Giving the Sunset-Strip audience a visually artistic musical performance from a newer, more mature West Coast version of the rock band Parousia.
This was one of the more thrilling moments in the band’s career. Hanging out in Hollywood at the world famous Sunset Strip, performing at the Roxy Theater, a long way from the Plant-6 in Kenmore NY.
The band understood what it meant to have an opportunity to perform at the Roxy and took great care in preparing for the show. Both Robert and Patrick were in excellent form and making good use of that giant stage with plenty of room to strut. This was the type of venue Parousia was conceived to play at. Killer house lights and sound were supplied by the venue, (professional engineers and road crew included!)
This club was nicely intimate with a cool friendly vibe with the audience right- up close to the stage. You could see the sweat dripping off our faces… ok, maybe not the best thing… This show featured our some-what new keyboardist Marty Leggett from Reno Nevada who joined the group back in December. Marty preferred ‘Korg’ brand keyboards and owned an arsenal of them.Marty was a true progressive rock fan.
The crowd at the Roxy was a mixed bag of socialites and concert-goers from in and around Hollywood and greater Los Angeles with some International visitors, mostly from the U.K. It was a good-sized crowd on this night and on the dance floor were the Dancers “Untamed” performing their moves admist the audience. The dancers, Susan and Claudine and one other whose name escapes me… >sorry<

Jane’s Addiction recorded the basic tracks for their 1987 self-titled debut album, Jane’s Addiction, at The Roxy in January, 1987 and the Red Hot Chili Peppers played their first show there on January 22, 1989.
‘The Rocky Horror Show’ opened its first American run at The Roxy Theatre in 1974, before it was made into the movie ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’ the next year.
The small ‘On The Rox’ bar above the club has hosted a wide variety of debauchery in its history. The bar was a regular hangout for John Lennon, Harry Nilsson, Alice Cooper and Keith Moon during Lennon’s “lost weekend” in 1973-74 and hosted parties arranged by Heidi Fleiss in the 1980s. According to LA.com, On The Rox “may be forever known as the club where John Belushi partied before fatally overdosing.”

These are very cool! Hard to picture Patrick Connolly in leather pants… but . there he is! Went to see my husband’s nephew’s band S.H.A.D.E at the Roxy and the Whiskey in the late eighties/early nineties – crazy!

Like a human “soul”‘s journey. Parousia just seems to move through time and evolve via various incarnations. So very cool !
I remember shaking my head one night walking past the Whisky a Go Go on Sunset, looking at the marquee, thinking “aren’t they from Buffalo???”
