Somewhere between the imagery of Salvador Dali and Ed Wood sits “Lie Awake”, an avant-garde music video that ushers the viewer into a dark and mysterious world of nightmarish dreams, and induced hallucinations.
The concept video for “Lie Awake” was cut together using footage clips from the private assets of Saturn Studios and from the public domain. Once the clips were chosen for the video, key scenes were extracted and edited into place, forming a string of images that mirrors the dark and moody feeling of the song.
Public Domain credits go to the following movies:
“Dangerous Stranger”, “Daughter Of Horror”, “Inner Sanctum”, “White Zombie”, “Empty Life” and “Living In a Reverse World.”
Other footage credits are as follows:
“Parousia Live At The Chamber” (1986) – courtesy of Tom Martin;
“Film-Reel Projector Clip” – courtesy of Mitch Martinez.
The ‘Lie Awake’ video soundtrack is remastered from the studio DAT recordings to ensure the highest quality sound. The original audio track “Lie Awake” is recorded by the band Parousia at Filippone Sound, Buffalo, NY (1985) for the “Life Is The Real” album, and is available from Rock Dog Records on Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Music / iTunes Google Play, iHeart Radio, Deezer, Napster and Tidal. With musicians: Patt Connolly; Garth Huels, Robert Lowden and Gerry Cannizzaro. (Head Surgery Music / BMI)
WOW man; how Pink Floyd-ish can you get I ask you ? Very cool; creative; original and imaginative video clips. Whatever happened to such conceptual musical mindsets ?
One of my favorites of the Parousia catalog
