Parousia Rocks Arch Bishop Walsh High School on Halloween 1981

‘Myron’ by Parousia-1981

Here is a good quality full-length live recording of our original song ‘Myron‘ from yet another performance out in Olean, NY… what could we say; that town loved us.

I can't wait to see Parousia!

Today In the hallowed halls of Bishop Walsh H.S. the kids bravely wear a smile, as if the rock show by Parousia never happened!

We made $400.00 this night (which, in 1981, was enough to actually make a profit!) and we really freaked the kids out with songs like “Myron,” “Second Coming/Ballad of Dwight Fry,” “Toronto Tontos” and “Cross Eyed Mary” – – which makes it all worth while.  No matter what, we were definitely bound and determined to have fun on Halloween.

Listen to our performance of Robert Stuart Lowden’s disturbing eclectic masterpiece “Myron“, captured live on this Halloween night, 10.31.1981.

Our detailed complex contract full of demands and stipulations. Don't even try to read it without a team of lawyers, you wouldn't understand the legalese.

Gregg Filippone ran the sound for tonight’s show along with Mike Carroll, lighting tech. The road crew:

Dave Styn (head roadie) plus three little roadies (Steve Styn, Keith Huels and Tom). Expenses totaled

$374.00 (including truck rental and a payment towards the band’s monthly rent at the Music Mall in

Cheektowaga). After costs, a cool $26.00 went into the main budget for the next show.

    MYRON Lyrics:

    Myron… (taunting)
    Laughter
    MYRON! (taunting)
    More laughter
    Myron… (taunting)
    Hysterical laughter
    MYRON!
    Insane Laughter

    Castles Castles in the air
    Hovels on the beach
    Mother Mother do you care?
    Father’s out of reach.
High school proms and beauty queens
Rumors of love with strange ideas.
Swim a lake of frustrated dreams
    Nightmares where you couldn’t SCREAM

    Castles Castles in the air
    Mother Father everywhere
Hovels on the beach at night
    Fathers out of reach alright
Your cold white tile, your clinical stare I just don’t care anymore.
My inhibitions aren’t yours to share; no I’ll never open the door.
…Never open the door… never open the door.

Myron c’mon you know that we were only foolin’
You know you don’t have to run away
Myron c’mon you’ll bring yourself to ruin
And we don’t want you to go astray.

You know your Mother… remember your mother?
She told us you were crazy
And that you ooh ooh ooh ooh had gotten out of hand.
You were laughing at the moon and oh, paintin’ crazy pictures
You were writing down words that no one understands.

So Myron c’mon; hey man you know we were only foolin’
You know you don’t have to run away
Myron c’mon, don’t bring yourself to ruin.
Stop looking for a full moon on a sunny day.

Myron you know we’ll always take good care of you.
Watching all the things that you might do
So just sit down and take it real slow.
There isn’t really much that you got to know.

All you have to do is what you’re told
You can stay right here until you’re old.
You never have to go very far
And you’ll forget that you had any scars.

I don’t understand what is the problem
I say what I see but you don’t believe me
You seem to think my mind is unraveled
Confusion stranding all over the floor.

I just see things a little differently
    Didn’t mean anyone any harm.
Rorschachs and eye tests won’t deceive me
Just label me in your pile of cards.

But if you keep on tryin’ to squeeze me
    Into your little specimen jars
I know I’m going to have to release me
    Scattered shadows of medicine jars.

    STOP!

You’re obviously a hebephrenic-schizoid, pathologically-paranoid sort of abomination with tendencies towards enuresis! Do you think he’s fit for our society?
NO! Take him out… take him out!

    GET HIM OUT OF HERE!

You don’t know about my show
You can’t see your way through to me
You may think that I’m too slow
But now I find that you wanna’ burn me?

Look out above, it ain’t love.
It’s just the angels comin’ down to get you.
You better run scared if you wanna’ be spared.
See how many times I’m gonna’ let you.

Burn and plunge, pilfer and lunge
Scratch out my eyes but I’ll still see you.
You better run scared if you wanna’ be spared.
See how many times i’m gonna’ let you.

I love that song….except for the time I hit Pat on the head with the fish net.

I remember performing this song with our old band Parousia at the old “Fast Annies” in the South Shore plaza in Hamburg; not too far from Hilbert College. The big bar’s bouncer collecting the “cover charge” at the door got so much “into it” that he actually put on one of our white hospital ward/insane asylum smocks that we were all wearing in the band during this song; and proceeded to “parade himself” in front of the stage. What a sight baby ! Like the band “Thin Lizzy” said in the song: “The Boys are Back in Town” : man; we just fell about the place.” What a show pilgrims ; what a show ! Alice Cooper would be damn proud ! Peace out ! Barry Cannizzaro
