Parousia Rocks KROQ Night At The Whisky July 9, 1989

Parousia’s fifth show at the Whisky on Sunday July 9^th, 1989 was another KROQ summer party promotion with host, D.J. Ken Fusion. It was a special night. On the dance floor in front of the Whisky stage, the dancers Untamed performed their first gig. Untamed is a dance troupe organized and choreographed by Claudine Regian from Buffalo, NY.

This show was part of a busy month for the band. Ever since Marty Leggett joined up in January 1989, we began playing much more often and when spring came, we really amped up the frequency.

In May we played at Madame Wong’s West in Santa Monica, CA and then the FM Station in North Hollywood. In June we performed at the “world famous Roxy Theater”, (located West of the Whisky on the Sunset Strip) and Bogart’s in Long Beach, CA, where PAROUSIA was recorded live for TV broadcast on “The Hollywood Showcase for bands”, July 1st and July 8th.

. In July, KLOS (a classic rock station in L.A. best known for morning D.J.’s Mark and Brian) began playing our songs, “Place your Bets” and “Turnaround” (on the “local licks” show thanks to D.J. “Uncle Joe” Benson). As much as i appreciated what KLOS was doing for us, I gotta’ love KROQ, because they were there for us. KROQ played our songs from the “TURNAROUND” E.P. long before KLOS. Their promotion of the band helped to bring people in the door which helped to ensure we would play there again.
