PAROUSIA Live SEX ORGY At The Chamber June 14, 1986

In the 1980’s times were different, the disenfranchised came out of the closet as society became more tolerant to alternative ways of thinking.  In a sign of the times, giving into their most carnal desires, Parousia surreptitiously organized and staged for profit an all age… musical performance! …What?? Did you really think the band would stage an orgy to get attention and gain notoriety in the liberal arts community?

We thought about it, but Madonna beat us to the punch. So, instead we blended art and music to create an interesting environment to host our live concert performances.

Behind the band there was a cyclorama of art.  In front, distorted televisions with a giant eye painted on the screen, eerily flashing pornographic images over episodes of ‘the Brady Bunch’ and ‘Leave it To Beaver’.

A slide show hung from the ceiling and projected odd and artistic photos along the wall while we played our best set or original songs like, “No One Is Watching Me”, “Power Of Will”, “Northway/Vermont”, “People’s Court”, “Pain Desire”, “Lie Awake” and “Life Is The Real”.

Chamber party invitation – Saturday June 14, 1986

On this night, Saturday June 14th, 1986, we shared the night with a local band called “The Fun” and a few lucky fans walked away with free gifts from one of our sponsors, Starseed Enterprise.

The name of this particular party at the Chamber was called the “OOG VOT” party as a kind of an experiment. We called it that because of the oversized letters that would sit across the front of the drum platform.

We would use the letters to spell out crazy words and change it every now and again. Throughout the last couple of shows, the letters for what ever reason spelled out the word “VOGNU”.

Well, I guess some people thought that “VOGNU” was the name of the band because, while performing, people from the audience would shout out, “VOGNU, you guys rock… yeah!

For this show, we changed the letters to spell out “OOG VOT” just to see if anyone would shout… “OOG VOT you guys rock!”
