It was our second time around at the Sunset Club in Sierra Madre, CA. The first go-around was the day after Christmas, December 26, 1988 with Robert on Guitar and Bill Simms on Keyboards.

This time was quite different; the band had gone through three major changes since then.

Marty Leggett from Reno Nevada replaced Bill Simms on keyboards. Dudley Taft from Seattle, Washington replaced Robert Lowden on guitar and we added bassist Gary Lee.  We now had a nice fat sound. Having a dedicated bass player really helped fill it all in.

On this evening, we played on a Friday night and headlined the show. The dancers “Untamed” were in front of the stage doing their thing.  We had a nice sized audience and they liked the tunes and the dancers.  It was a bit tight inside the club as the place wasn’t built for a floor show.

We finished playing at about 2:00 am and we had another show to do (now that it was officially Saturday March 15), at Madame Wong’s in Santa Monica, CA and then again next Wednesday March 19 at a place called “Casey’s” in Orange, CA.

Patt and I were looking forward to book another show at the Sunset Club, but little did we know that after tonight, Marty, Dudley and Gary were planning on leaving the band to pursue other endeavors.

Marty had been with us since December 1988 and we had done over 20 shows together. Dudley joined up in October 1989 and had been with us barely six-months. Gary joined most recently in December of 1989, just a little more than three-months ago.

We had no idea that The Sword Of Damocles was hovering above us, just waiting for the right moment to drop.
