The indelible Parousia, back again at Dad’s Café on Thursday, November 5, 1981. This was the band’s fourth show at Dad’s Café making it clean past the “three-time rule”, we cheated “band death” all thanks to the many loyal and crazy fans that showed up every time we played there and made each night so much fun!
On this Thursday night the band earned $200.00. On the financial ledger, Patt listed the road crew simply as “roadies”, and paid $30.00, (which likely means there were three since we rarely paid an “average” roadie more than $10.00 a night). Our booking agency, Backstage Productions, took less than their usual 15%, ($20.00)… what’s up with that?? Was this an early Christmas gift??
Dad’s Cafe kicked-off a busy November including next Friday and Saturday, November 13 and 14, at the Wayside Manor, Alden, NY, and then Sunday November 15 at the Wooden Nickel, Olean, NY and Thursday November 19 at the Shady Grove in Boston, NY.
On Monday November 23, the band performed a live version of “Myron” on stage at the first annual Buffalo Backstage Music Awards at Rooftops Lounge and was later broadcast on TV. (We wish we had a copy of that video to post on-line…it’s not like we haven’t tried to track it down!)
On Saturday November 28, the band ended the month playing a gig closer to home base at the Plant-6 in Kenmore NY.
