Another Crazy Plant-6 Weekend, July 25-26, 1980

This was (keyboardist) Eric Scheda’s  third gig with Parousia.

By now, the band was tight with the songs in the set. Eric was an outstanding keyboard player and handled everything we threw at him, “Hocus Pocus” by Focus was a pretty hard act to follow when our previous keyboard player, David Maltbie played piano, organ and an accordion, copying the exact parts from the song.  Eric pulled it off and then some. Eric was a rocker while Dave’s core was primarily jazz. Once Eric learned the set, it was much more powerful.

Off stage, Eric had a great sense of humor and fit in well. He liked most of the same music that the rest of us did and knew progressive rock the best.

The band was full, more baseball players wandered in for a few beers after the game. The more the crowd drank, the rowdier they got and we reflected their feelings in hard rocking songs like “White Punks On Dope” and “Won’t get Fooled Again”, Train’ Kept A Rollin’ and “Heartbreaker”.

All in all it was a good show and the manager really liked us. He booked us for an encore performance right away to play next weekend, August 1st and 2nd.   We gladly accepted. The more we played out with Eric, the tighter the band got and we picked up more fans along the way.
